Umami is green!

One of the goal of Umami is to contribute, as less as possible to climate change, pollution and emissions. As a small roaster, it is hard to achieve but not impossible. It requires sacrifices in many ways and sometimes even expenses but we think that there is no other way to do business.

How?

The roaster

First of all, our roaster is running 100% on hydro-electricity, which is fortunately for Quebecers, very sustainable and green. Most coffee roaster will be running on natural gas or propane. 

Packaging

 Another very important part of the business is all the packaging that is required from the moment we get the coffee from our hands to yours. The coffee bag itself, the packaging that we use to mail to you... We make great sacrifices on profits and quality to make sure that all packaging we use is 100% recyclable. Make sure you recycle the packaging when you are done enjoying the coffee!

Shipping

We do our local deliveries in the greater Montreal in an electric car and we usually (when we can) ship with Canada Post that is certified carbon neutral!
